so here it is a week late i know but i need one more thing to distract me from finals. despite everything the show went really well people seemed to like it a whole lot, me i'm just glad it's over...

this piece is called "home" the sound that it played was a recording of me and lib doing things in our apartment. we didn't speak, i wanted to viewer to focus more on the ambient sounds things like the shower the fridge or the tv turned on to the a/v channel to get that high pitched frequency it makes. it's made out of gormans maple, kozo paper, and glass.

this is "requiem" i have a video of it playing but unfortunately i don't know how to post it.

this piece is called "as clear as the voice of god." and it only played static. i only played static because to me it represents unseen forces, i mean if you think about all the different radio waves transmitting around us every day that we notice. the same might be said for gods influence it's all around us but we don't notice it, but at the same time it might not be anything at all and the radio is the one making the static in their' search there's no way of know if it's one way or the other. so i guess with this piece i was trying to describe what it's like to be agnostic.

this box was a joke and pay off big time. the name of the piece was "Waiting for relief" inside lay a single tum and when you turned the crank it make a horrible grinding noise for about three minutes but then finally it played an arpegiated "c" chord. it was so funny to watch people use this box most of them thought that they had broke it and backed away real quick. unfortunately it broke for real Wednesday night, it will no longer play the chord. but at least i named it cleverly cause it still works it's just now realief never comes.

day 5 or 6 not really sure but day none the less. well i have fallen a little behind on this blog so here's a quick recap on on days 3 and 4. day 3 horrible day for art, made crappy mock book in adams class follow by a horrifying incident involving a 6 hour figure drawing, acrylic, and a unleashed scott allred, sleep followed shortly after. day four plan for book turns out to be hidious failure, a tired adam tries to brain storm, sleep follows shortly after. now for todays events, again it is late so i will just be posting pictures, but if there are any questions like "what the hell were you thinking?", or " have you lost your mind?" i would be happy to go into detail.

So I have a solo student show opening on Monday. And being the think ahead kind of guy that I am I have just about finished the first of five with about four days left. I figure if I pace myself at a box a day I might just pull it off. This first box is a more traditional one it will sound like a music box but it will be playing a tune I wrote, a neat little toy company in England helped me with that one. This piece is a bout two friends that grew up on my block that both became victims suicide I actually wrote the song that will be playing in the book for the first one that died on the day he died. the compass isn't finished yet but when it is, it will have a "j" for north and a "b" for east, then it will have a "a" for west and a "g" for south and when read left to right top to bottom it will spell out their initials. and the compass has to do with being lost, and also loosing friends and it's a way for me to put a rose on it with out it looking trite. well I think that will do it for this post, I think I will try to post where I'm at everyday this week to keep you guys up to speed.

This is the bottom, the rectangular shape is a sound whole for the mechanism and the little circle above that is my emergency escape plan.

as part of my new years resolution to do anything that perry does time 2 i have been working on these self portrait intaglio prints.

this first one is finished, i hope any way. Personally i like it better with out the chinecole (murdered that one) but you know Adam if it makes things harder and is extra crap to do it must be better. I'll put a pic up of the original later and let you guys decide.

now this piece i could use a little advice on. this piece is dealing with a question that has plagued man since the Adam and Eve days, why do men have nipples? now here's what I'm thinking I'll do a mat board flat for the pants and tassels, and chinecole for the skin. but what to do in the background? i'm stumped, partly because i can do anything, this is supposed to be a three matrix intaglio, not to mention it's fricken huge i mean check this out...

pretty big huh, and mind you have used no Nathan perry mirror trick photography either, seriously dude we need to have a long talk about artistic integrity. well anyway if you guys have any suggestions that would help me a lot.

heres what im working on for an assignment in figure painting two, the assignment was do two self portraits inspired by before and after plastic surgery. its due friday, so hopefully i can get it beyond this point. sorry for the terrible picture quality, ive got to be out of here in a half hour, and i just lost my train of thought because kachina is sitting about two feet away from me, mocking me. she stopped now, but the damage is done. anyways. tell me what you think. i mostly posted this because ive been slacking. on posting.

alright the image of mario before was a scan, as you can see it kind of killed it. im thinking of doing something more involved with this mario, like i said its more of a study. also over the break i was able to rework this commission painting, i posted a before, which was this summer. i just wasnt happy with the outcome before, i feel i made a little progress. and i think im going to scan some images out of my old sketchbook once i get back out to school. as for now im going to update my personal blog.

okay im trying to turn over a new leaf and not rag on my own stuff, but plain and simple i like my initial sketch more, so i posted that too. well.. i dunno they both have their ups and downs. ive been working on my own stuff and school stuff so i didnt make much time to do this. sorry guys. guys as a general term. im going to post one thing im working on in my personal blog so you can check that out too.

Vegetable Lifestyles

That's our new theme. So it is very broad so we can feel free to be creative and silly. I was having trouble deciding between that and Artichoke Combat. So if anyone thinks that would be a better theme we can change it. I think that submissions should be posted two weeks from monday. That's monday the 22nd of September.

Dude, scott that fables cover book looks... as adam would say, yummy. if i had the funds id definitely put in an order. and my last idea was to sort of construct new animals from two or more real animals. i think ive decided against that idea though. i think we need something fresh, if you look at my personal blog ive already done one that you can see, and another that i didnt post, of course, if we chose that we could just bar me from including cats owls or bunnies... i dunno, just a thought.

personally, as a welcoming to blogspot i think scott should come up with the next idea for exploration. just nothing to weird scott, you know how conservative and reserved i am.

so i was at the florence griswald (sp?) museum a couple days ago and i saw a book there. it was was by an artist by the name of wallace edwards, it went through and made these animals by constructing them from two+ other animals.

so i think thatll be the next adventure. im waiting on scott to join us though. i have invited him.

So! as i had previously stated... i have come to grips with reality
in that there is no way i will be finishing this by tomorrow. i did
some exploration with a palette knife (which i had yet to do before)
so i have some thick paint on there that is going to take a while to
dry. and i think we should stick to the bi-weekly schedule. I kinda
dig it. although i dont think i have enough little panels to do a
painting every time :( boo freakin hoo oh but the cap'n is supposed
have an eye patch.. he just doesnt have the strap yet.

but as i have previously discussed with bradimus prime el numero uno
this thing is mostly just to keep us working... and trying to turn some
wheels, so its not really a big deal if submissions are not finished.
for those of us who work slowly.. anyways i hope some of the facebookers
join us slowly.. and if you guys know anyone else who would be interested

let me know.
